Valentines Day Party at Hacienda Peralta Historic Park

 Valentine Day Celebration
About 40 community members including adults and children came out to participate in the Valentines Day Celebration at Hacienda Peralta Historic Park

Lead by ACE Arts interns Liliana Herrera and Priscilla Hoang, and volunteers Kristi Holohan and Dawn Duboski we made DIY cards, and silk screened our hearts to Oakland. Community also had an opportunity to write a "love letter to Oakland" stating what they love about the neighborhood as well as what they want to see changed.

We found out where the speed bumps are needed, where the potholes are, that we need to change the fighting and violence. We also learned where to go to hang out in the Peralta Creek and last but not least where to get the best tamales!

Special thanks to La Farine Bakery for their gracious donations to our event!

Living Concrete
at the Oakland Museum of California

Resta and Teka (ACE Arts interns) painted live with mentor artists Ras Terms and Safety First. The work celebrates Oakland Culture with a focus on iconography from OMCA's political poster collection. Special Guests Dead Eyes, Ash Rose, GATS, and Dan Fontes joined in the mural.

Special Thanks to the musicians, Homeroom for the excellent Mac and Cheese, The Oakland Standard, Rock Paper Scissors Collective, and the Oakland Museum of California for the support in creating professional opportunities for our Interns.

Art and Music in the Gardens at Lake Merritt

There were over 40 visual artists who came out to the Festivities at the Gardens at Lake Merritt. Musicians, Poets, and Gardeners came together to celebrate and the rain did not deter the event.

Shown are artists Dan Fontes (known for his many murals throughout Oakland including the Girrafics under the 580 freeeway) and Kristi Holohan painted shaped butterflies to be displayed in the Garden's Park.
Youth Artists Liliana Herrera and Naima Yi produced butterflies for the event as well.
