Dimond Peace Quilt Squares

January 2008

Project:
ACE Arts led by artist Kristi Holohan created  quilting squares for the city of Oakland's Peace Quilt. Kristi worked with participants from Dimond Park's after school program. The participants drew their ideas of "Peace" and then transfered the idea to a fabric square with fabric permanant markers. We then used Dimond Park's sewing machines to add each small quilt square to a larger collaborative square.
We took individual pictures of all the participants and heat transfered them on to the larger collaborative squares. The transfers illustrated the student's holding their idea of Peace. the finished works were submitted to the City of Oakland for project completion.
